Background: Although peripheralblood stem celldonation have been performed in Korea since 996, there were no case of donation in the military pilot. We report the first case of peripheral blood stem cell donation of the military pilot in1s tmedical battalion.
Casereport: A 37 years old pilotwas requested to donate his peripheralblood stem cell. His physicalexamination wasnormal.Granulocytestimulation factorwasinjected during fivedays, then peripheralblood stem celldonation was performed.Thrombocytopenia and elevated liverenzyme were shown.After14days,however,allthe parameters
were recovered.
Discussion: Thrombocytopenia after peripheral blood stem cell donation is a common side effect. It usually recovers after7¡14 days.Currently, restriction on blood stem celldonation mentioned only hematocrit and 3 days of flight rest. Considering the environment of military pilot (G-force or hypoxia), further discussion of amendment of restriction should be needed.
